I couldn't ask for something sweeter to show case on my 100th blog post! The festivities surrounding this destination wedding were ahhh-mazing. One of the greatest experiences I've had yet with my business.

This was a destination wedding to the Caribbean by way of a cruise out of Miami. The couple got married in Key West (followed by a great brunch and a stroll through the town), had a sing-along reception at the piano bar on the cruise ship (their guests SANG their first song), and ventured on an excursion to the Tulum ruins in Mexico. ...ALL of which I was lucky enough to be a part of. Hands down awesome.

Oh, and can I just tell you this couple rocks. Their invitation came as a scroll in a message bottle complete with sand and pirate lingo, inviting you, as the guest, to join their crew. This wedding was pirate themed PLUS a bag pipe player. Really, could it be more awesome?!

It was so hard to narrow down some faves to share with you on the blog.

Another FREEZING photo shoot! I was thrilled to wake up to snow on the ground in El Paso. ...not the most common thing in El Paso. I knew it would make for a fabulous photo session. These two were SUCH good sports. We almost cancelled because all the roads were closed (yes, my Utah friends can laugh at us for that), and the weather was supposed to be crummy, but I'm so glad we braved it.

Meet my son's best friend and cousin, Danny. These two are inseparable when they are together. Sure they fight and wrestle (ahem, a lot), but they love each other dearly. Stone gets sad every time we leave El Paso. He'd love to play with this kid every day.

We went out for his 5-year portraits, and Stone (my son) accompanied us. So to start this one off, here are the two of them.

This is my little cousin, Josh. Lookin' good, huh? Our families grew up super close, and I can remember him so well as a baby. Time flies!

We did a MINI shoot. I don't think he was thrilled to do it, but at his mom's request, we headed to their yard and got some great shots. And by the way, they have a fabulous yard. We had our wedding reception there 7 1/2 years ago!

He refused to smile, but with the help of my four year old, we got a few out of him.

This was by far the quickest photo shoot I have ever done. It was 20 degrees (or so I remember!) outside. And for this Texas girl, that is COLD. I went to school in Utah, so you'd think I could handle it, but it was FREEZING! Though it was a 12 minute photo shoot (no joke!), we got some great stuff. We were on a mission to get get great shots FAST. We.got.it.done. It started to snow just as we got into our cars, and my shooting finger was numb the rest of the night (no, I did not shoot with gloves).

This is Stewart, one of my husband's dear friends growing up, and his wife Piper (loooove the name). This was an anniversary shoot for them.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This time of year brings so much joy to me. The craziness that comes with the last month of the year seems to try to drown out the purpose of the season, but I am definitely grateful to celebrate my Savior's birth. I am also grateful that my kids (ages 4 & almost 2) are beginning to grasp the importance of it all.

It has been a whirlwind of a month! Definitely my busiest month this entire year for photographing. Not to mention Christmas, being a full time mommy, and throwing in out of town shooting trips!

This month, I had the AWESOME opportunity to travel to the Caribbean to shoot a wedding! I headed straight to El Paso for ANOTHER fantastic wedding full of desert bridal shots, a handful of sessions in El Paso, and we got to spend a wonderful amount of time with the ones we hold dear.

We are now back home preparing to spend the special day tomorrow with our family of 4!

Before I begin to preview what I have been up to in December (and oh boy, you should get excited! I am!), I better back up the train and show off a few shots from each of my sessions I had before heading out of town.

This is SUCH a lovely family. I know them from church, and love checking out their style. They are always dressed so cute, and seem to have the cutest personalities. I was thrilled to photograph them.

This first girl had me laughing during the shoot, and again while editing. She's pure joy!

New born sessions always take a bit longer. The baby needs to be fed, put back to sleep, poop and pee cleaned up from naked time, etc. But it's always worth it to be able to capture such early moments in their lives, and to have these images to turn over to their families.

I can't believe I have not shared this session with you! This was one of my favorites from this summer. I am so excited to do this couple's wedding in El Paso next year. Actually, most of my 2012 weddings so far are in El Paso!

This couple was up for a beautiful sunrise session on Transmountain in El Paso. Though I am now in East Texas, I will forever be a desert rat, and claim El Paso as my home. My love for shooting in the sunset is indescribable, but after this early morning session, the sunrise is trying to take it's place in my heart.

Everything about this wedding was amazing. The bride is absolutely wonderful. I actually ran this girl around to tennis lessons when I was in college. It was so awesome to see her again, and to be a part of her special day. Congrats Andrew and Lori!

When I shared the sneak peak with you, I said that this photo shoot was filled with everything that makes my little Texas heart go pitter patter. ...west Texas, turquoise, cowboy hats, horses, the Texas sun, the purple glow of the Franklin mountains in the distance at sunset...need I go on? I usually just share a handful of pictures (mostly because I run out of time to blog!), but I took the extra time to extend this blog post, because let's be honest. How could I not?

I bought some ad space from this Viewette (Longview High School) for her dance program, so we had a quick photo shoot so I could put her in the ad. She recently turned 16, so we also got some fun 16 year portraits of her. I haven't chosen the picture for the ad yet, but here is one of my favorites from tonight.

I have been absent from this blog (kind of on a leave!) because we just bought a house! That has consumed our time the last couple of weeks, but I have some photo shoots coming up, and I'm excited to share them with you.

I don't even know where to start with this wedding! I captured their special occasion not once, not twice, but three times. We had a groomal {bride + her groom} session downtown in El Paso, but the actual wedding was in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were married in the LDS {Mormon} temple. LDS wedding ceremonies are not photographed (I was actually married in the Juarez, Mexico temple!)...so I captured the bride and groom and their families following the ceremony, as well as their reception, which took place in El Paso a week later. Here are a few from each of the three times (Albuquerque, El Paso reception, El Paso downtown portraits)I was behind the camera for this awesome couple. Enjoy!

I just returned home {last night} from a trip to Albuquerque and El Paso. While out west, I had several photo sessions including a wedding, engagements, and maternity. I was SO excited to go through all of my pictures last night, and I just HAD to quickly pick out a few and edit. Here is a sneak peak of some of the fun I have had this last week! I recently returned from photographing an after party for a company who had an employee inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. It was a black tie event, in one of my favorite Texas cities, San Antonio. Other than weddings, I usually stick to portrait sessions, so this was something different and fun. Here are a few of my faves from the night.

This couple really was so great to work with. Jordan, the bride, is an artist, which I'm sure contributed to her input that resulted in excellent collaboration. I went to high school with these two, and while we knew each other (she played volleyball, and I cheered), we ran around in different circles for the most part (I graduated before these two). After working with her for her wedding, I wondered why the heck we were not better friends. She is wonderful! She found me through Facebook. Have you checked out my new Facebook page and "liked it?" I guess this is really just another tease, because there is so much more to come from this wedding.

This bride was seriously a joy to work with. She booked me well in advance, and was always sending me things she saw for inspiration. She was SO easy going. For instance, she got a call 20 minutes before the wedding saying the electricity was out at the Country Club (where their reception was). ...which meant, catering was on hold, and it was not going to accommodate a party very well! She just smiled. Like she knew it would all work out. Luckily it was on just fine by the time everyone arrived.

Obviously, a name change to my biz, and a new logo!! I am just about settled in east Texas, and excited to continue my business here! The next several posts may be some glimpses into my personal life, as I continue to unpack and build up my business over here. However, I have one awesome wedding and groomal session that I just shot in El Paso and White Sands. Stay tuned for that!

This sweetie belongs to my dear friend, Cori. I prefer to shoot newborns 3 weeks and younger. After that 3 week mark, you don't get to do whatever you want with them. :) They fight you a bit.
